Summary

This training provides a comprehensive overview of dyslexia and practical strategies for supporting dyslexic learners across the whole school.

Audience

All school leaders in all phases, Headteachers, Senior Leadership Team Members, SENCO’s, Attendance Officers, Inclusion Leads, Pastoral Leads, Senior Mental Health Leads.

Aims

This course provides senior school leaders with a clear understanding of dyslexia and its impact on learning. It aims to build empathy, identify key classroom indicators, and promote inclusive practices. Leaders will explore how to implement whole-school strategies and policies that support all learners, ensuring a consistent and supportive environment. The course also highlights how the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) can assist in driving meaningful change.

Since 2009, Amanda has been employed in the education sector, with a primary focus on supporting secondary students with special needs. She holds the title of a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Tutor and is authorised to conduct assessments for Exam Access Arrangements and Visual Discomfort Screening. Additionally, she has completed her training for her Assessor Practising Certificate and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). Currently, she serves as a Specialist Dyslexia Trainer at the British Dyslexia Association, where she provides bespoke training to various workplaces and educational institutions.
